First Trip to the Dentist

Sophie had her first trip to the dentist today. In preparation for this momentus day, we've been reading 'Barney Goes To The Dentist'. Sophie wasn't afraid and actually had fun while waiting for her turn. The waiting area was fully equipped with books, dinosaurs, little cars, and a child's tea set. She made friends with Devin and Taran, also waiting to see the Dentist, and told everyone that she's "going strawberry picking today". I had to remind her that it wasn't today but in a few weeks time. She then got to sit in the "big banana chair" and watch Dora. I didn't know what to expect as I had heard stories about the problems that some adopted Chinese kids have with their teeth. But I pleased to report that Sophie's teeth are cavity free. As a reward, Sophie was allowed to select a toy from the treasure box (she chose a Dora sticker) and the Dentist gave her a red toothbrush.

I couldn't get Sophie to smile because she was totally glued to the Dora dvd.
